I
was one of those horse-crazy little girls who grew up far from horses
and riding lessons. I spent hours in my little city bedroom cutting out
magazine pictures of Seabiscuit and Man O'War and poring over horse books
like Black Beauty, Misty of Chincoteague, and My Friend Flicka. I drew
pictures of horses and ponies and played with them the way some girls
play with cut out dolls. I became famous at school for accurate, romantic
drawings of horses and, for awhile, did a nice little business in commission
work from a certain set of classmates. (5 cents a picture, your color
choice of mane and tail). So it was with great joy that I was able to
do a whole book about horses for Peel Productions. I hope you have as
much fun with it as I did.
